The first Sunday in June is perhaps the best day of the year to be in Allensville, since its the date of "The Singing," the annual hymn sing started by Robert Neil in the early 1960s.
This recording, courtesy of Todd Gill, begins with congregational singing of "O, to Be Like Thee," which was an appropriate (though in typical Allensville fashion, not coordinated ahead of time) introduction to Justin Adams' sermon, "The Attitude of Christ Jesus."

"All roads lead to Allensville," we like to say around here. The proverb proved its usefulness again tonight as we hosted some folks from a congregation of former Mennonites, who were raised on acapella hymns, just like we were.
We hope to get together for another Sunday Night Singing soon, so keep an eye on the Allensville Church of Christ page on Facebook -- we'll post the next time we plan to gather.
